| Today’s city and county managers and administrators face increasingly complex challenges and demands. As a result, they require ongoing professional development across a specialized but broad array of managerial and leadership fronts, as reflected in ICMA’s Effective Management Practice Groups. Local government executives need an opportunity to renew and develop their skills and perspectives and to learn about innovative methods and techniques. In addition, they need an environment that allows for relationship-building and information networking with their peers. IMMI is designed to help meet these needs. The intent of the three day IMMI conference, as developed by the Institute of Public Affairs of the University of Iowa in conjunction with the Iowa City/County Management Association and the Iowa League of Cities, is to achieve the following goals: (1) To provide a multi-dimensional intensive learning and development experience at a national and regional level that addresses the various specific areas relevant to the profession and consistent with the groups of effective practices developed by ICMA. (2) To contribute to the participants’ efforts to maintain their annual professional development commitment (3) To create an environment that supports a high level of peer interaction and relationship building (4) To provide the program at an affordable cost. |
