INRC director Richard Koontz will conduct a workshop on Starting an Iowa Charitable Nonprofit
on Saturday, March 15 on the UI campus. Koontz will take participants through the steps required to start a nonprofit such as drafting articles of incorporation and completing forms to obtain tax exempt status with the IRS. Nominations are being accepted until April 4 for the Governor’s Volunteer Awards (GVA)
. Iowa’s nonprofit, charitable, and government organizations may nominate volunteers in the categories of Individual, Group, Disaster Volunteer, or Length of Service. Coordinated by the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, the GVA program is a convenient, low-cost way to recognize volunteers with a prestigious state-level award. proposes changes to the political campaign prohibition for section 501(c)(3) organizations.
